Leopardz:

Don’t give up; I’m liking your question and I’m liking this discussion. You are appropriately and courageously looking for where the Church, et.al. stands on a fundamental view of reality.

I know you don’t want opinions, but I can’t resist… 🙂 I think spacetime is a concept, not a thing. A way of looking at or organizing the “nothingness” which separates all matter.

Or, in other words: It’s not a cloud; it’s water molecules close enough to each other that they look like a thing (concept) we call a cloud.

Please, I want to know what you think about the creation of space.Don’t be mad. 🙂

So it means “no”.

As I said in the first post, just want to clarify for myself.

People, if I start defending myself here, I will look totally uncool.
I see many misunderstanding just because of a simple “yes” or “no” question.
The question I asked was very simple to begin with. One after another think I have something up on my sleeve. It’s really not pleasant to be judged like that.

Did the Church teach “God created space”, a direct quote?
Yes or No?
Someone answered yes. But I was being judged as thinking “if there’s no direct quote, it is false”. No where in my post ever said that. It was just “yes or no” question.

Many ignored the fact that I said I know God created everything.
ALL ignored the fact that I am NOT looking for definition of space, or PERSONAL or THEOLOGIAN or SCIENTIST’s definition of space.
ALL defined space to me.
I am just asking if Church ever defined space, or does it ever say directly “God created space”.
YES? NO? Don’t know?
very simple.
Yet I am judged as asking trick question, trying to debunk something, etc.
Sorry, I did not mean to imply that you are asking a trick question. I am just trying to understand the question. Maybe it is just my simple mind, but it never dawned on me to ask such a question. I mean if God created everything and the Church says God created everything, and we have space then God must have created it. and the Church if asked would say he did. Now if you are asking what is space i do not think the Church would even begin to give an answer on that.

Wow I guess you did not read my post, becuase I did not define space lol. And I did answer that question for you in my thread. 😉

Hi, I’m just here to clarify for myself. Is “God created space” a teaching of the Catholic Church, or is it just the theological opinion? I’m not looking for the definition of space, but rather, since Catholic Church teaches that God created everything, does the Catholic Church ever taught “space” too belongs to the group of “everything”, or was it just the opinions of Catholic theologians?
St. Thomas Aquinas teaches that God created “primary matter.” So that would seem to fit.

“Therefore whatever is the cause of things considered as beings, must be the cause of things, not only according as they are “such” by accidental forms, nor according as they are “these” by substantial forms, but also according to all that belongs to their being at all in any way. And thus it is necessary to say that also primary matter is created by the universal cause of things.”

newadvent.org/summa/1044.htm

Of course, then this would get you into the “is space matter?” debate. And this could go on forever.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. - when God created the heavens God created space. Thats about as Good as it gets - one line.

The Church teaches that God created all things from nothing.

The Church has never specifically taught that God created space, or that God created quarks, or even that God created DNA molecules, but those can be inferred from the teaching that God created everything.

I don’t see the problem here.

The Church teaches that God created the material universe and everything in it. That pretty much comprises matter-energy and space-time. It also teaches that God created all spiritual beings including angels and human souls.

So, what’s the problem again?

In the beginning there was God.No space no nothing.Everything else is created.Space,planets,ect.
