Last year I became homeless and I was camping out. It looked very bleak for me I am disabled and receive SSDI income and other disability income. Well I was provided a room at no cost then saved my money. Last week I secured a one bedroom apartment based on my income. The most important thing to remember is that when you are asking Jesus for help you need to work hard at helping yourself too. Christians of all faiths helped me get to where I am today and I am very thankful to them.
I will tell you the best way to support people that are homeless is to have programs they can use to secure housing. Please do not give money to pan handlers. They are using the money to buy alcohol and drugs. Give money and food to homeless shelters and food banks. That is the most help you can really provide to us.

Kew, I’m delighted that the kindness of others have given you the opportunity to obtain a home,
but also that you took the opportunity offered you, and handled it in a way that allows you security.
I raise and thank God for His blessing for you, and also that you accepted His blessings through others, and made best use of the graces given you.

Thank you for posting, to remind others that a helping hand can be the doorway into a new beginning for someone who is really struggling for even just basic rights in life, like shelter.

There is an insightful poem “But” was written by an anonymous Divine Word Missionary, inspiring us to love of others, even in the smallest gestures of human kindness.

It was only a sunny smile,
And little it cost in the giving;
But it scattered the night
Like morning light,
And made the day worth living.
Through life’s dark warp a woof it wove
In shining colours of hope and love;
And the angels smiled as they watched above,
Yet little it cost in the giving.

It was only a kindly word, a word that was lightly spoken;
But not in vain,
For it stilled the pain
Of a heart that was nearly broken
It strengthened a faith beset with fears,
And groping blindly through mists of tears,
For light to brighten the coming years,
Although it was lightly spoken.

It was only a helping hand
And it seemed of little availing;
But its clasp was warm,
And it saved from harm
A brother whose strength was failing.
Its touch was tender as angels’ wings
But it rolled the stone from the hidden springs
And pointed the way to higher things,
Though it seemed of little availing.

Jesus said to him, “_The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” (1)

Jesus, you spent the last three years of your life without personal income and homeless, in order to preach and demonstrate the love of God and gospel truths.

Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many other women, all of whom contributed to the support of Jesus and His Apostles * (2)

You depended upon the shelter of others’ homes,
and upon the financial support of friends and supporters
You know that when circumstances prevented You from earning Your living, others came to Your aid.

Your followers didn’t leave You exposed to the elements, hot and cold, wind and rain.
They did not leave You to starve.

And Jesus, though You were homeless and without a wage, You were not forgotten … Large crowds followed You…*(3) and they honoured You…

The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed … … Both the crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed him kept shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David.” * (4)

But Jesus, many homeless and unemployed have no one to help them.
No one to offer shelter.
No one to affirm that their lives have meaning and are precious.
Please where possible, reunite them to their families and to proper care and security.

Jesus I entreat You to embrace the hearts of the unemployed and the homeless, the neglected and the lonely, the desperate and the despairing…through the practical love and personal kindness of others,
to provide affordable shelter;
and where there is need, to help them to rehabilitate;
to supply jobs or support;
to share their food with them;
and with genuine love and wise practicality,
to affirm their unique sacredness as children of God
