I’ve been doing a novena for a long while, for something very important to me and I just did something bad so the main question I have is. Does God grant you things if you are in the state of mortal sin?

One does not gain merit from actions when in the state of mortal sin. Since grace is a help in strengthening will against sin, and that can be blocked when there is not the proper disposition. If you do an act of perfect contrition, even before you next confession, you can be forgiven the guilt, yet must still confess in person.
