I just was reflecting on my evening and felt like sharing, so here goes…
As a part time job I work waiting tables at a nice resturaunt. Saturday and Sunday of this weekend I worked and made really good tips. Fortunately tonight (which is normally slow) ended up in a good way for me.
At the resturaunt, we have a corporate client that comes in with groups of their employees from all over the US several times a month. They spend anywhere from $500 to $1300. So you do the math, 20% of that can be a nice night. Anyhow, they only give these parties to a few select waiters and I have now reached the “elite” status of one of those waiters. There were 3 parties in there tonight and I was taking care of one of them.
Now let me say this, everytime before a shift starts I pray to God for good tables, good customers, good service and good tips. I pray a Hail Mary to be as kind and compassionate to everyone as Mary was/is and an Our Father.
As I walked into work praying, I thought to myself, am I the only one that does this, prays before work? I know that the other waiters make good money, but they do not pray. And then the thought left me. I finished my prayers, and started my shift. I had one of the three “big” parties that was there that evening. It just so happened that as the parties showed up, I was in charge of the wrong party, it was supposed to be a different one. I did not care either way because with these parties you are guaranteed a good night. Point of my story is that waiter number 1 (who had the party I should have had) had sales of $600 making about $125 in tips. Waiter number 2 had $950 in sales making $185 in tips. My total sales was just under $700 and my tip…was $200. Oh God is good!!
As I sit here and reflect, I think about God sitting up in heaven and making all of this happen, for me, because of my little prayers to Him. He gave me the better group of people, He gave me the extremely generous person to give me that tip. I just sit here and reflect on this and am in complete awe at how AWESOME our God is to us. I cannot fathom this. How He worked all of this for me tonight. All of it. I sit here and awe and wonder, simply amazed. Thank you Lord for taking care of me and my family! You alone are worthy of our praise.
Thanks for letting me share. God bless you!
