God only cares about the spiritual, not the temporal

How fortuitous that you are apparently an omnipotent being that knows the mind of God.

“I KNOW He’ll say no, so why bother?”

It seems to me as though you’re wallowing in the falsest of prides. Read about St. Francis, ask for his prayers for you, and stop acting as though you already know what the outcome will be.

With that, I’m done.
You misinterpret me. That is not charitable.

I asked God for something I needed. I did not get it. Obviously He said no.

This is not rocket science. One does not need a PhD in theology to see the “NO”

This is not pride.

I don’t refuse to ask because I think I’ll be rejected. I am rejected because I ask.

If you are in physical pain get help from doctors.
If you have emotional pain due to the loss of a loved one understand that you’ll get used to the pain and you’ll stop focusing on it, eventually, but that may take a year.

If you are in spiritual pain, that’s the easiest one to get rid of, make amends, ask forgiveness and move on.

Dwelling on our past sins is a form of narcissisium
If I was in physical pain, I’d go see a doctor. Medical science has a solution for most physical pain (except certain chronic pain, then you’re screwed).

If I was in spiritual pain, I’d do what you say. No problem.

Emotional pain? I thank God I have not lost a loved one, but I have lost something valuable, the ability to earn a living. I’m not disabled. I’m not a criminal. I’m not lazy. I’m unable to keep a job. Doesn’t matter what I do. Doesn’t matter if I do a good job.

Doesn’t matter if I offer my daily labor for the praise and glory of Christ, and the salvation of souls. Nope.

Not allowed to have or keep a job.

But somehow I have to figure out how to survive until I die. I can’t kill myself, that’s suicide and a mortal sin and God would throw me into hell. I’m on my own.

If I did not have bad luck, I would not have any luck at all.

So it is obvious that God’s will is that I suffer. Nothing else.

Whatever, Bob. I’m sympathetic for you in terms of trying to find a job and whatnot, and I’ll keep praying for you, but the constant “Woe is me” garbage gets to be a little much. My Mom has gone through much the same thing that you have throughout her life, and the two of you are as different in your response as night and day.

Good luck.

I don’t know you, Bob, but have you tried talking to a priest or counselor? You might be suffering from depression. I will pray for you.

I know, I don’t handle suffering well. God is disappointed in me. I am weak and worthless.

I did talk to a psychologist, and she came to the conclusion that I don’t have depression. If I could find and keep a job, my “depression” would disappear as it has over the past few months.

Seek a second opinion maybe? 🤷 Both the “worthless” statement and the difficulty keeping a job (I know it’s hard to find them these days but if keeping them is also an issue) point to some kind of issue - depression, maybe ADHD, anxiety, something. Been there, bought the T-shirt. Be persistent. If whatever you’re dealing with is really making it impossible to work, perhaps you should consider applying for disability and then you would at least have an income. Again, I don’t know your situation so if this advice is completely off, just take it with a grain of salt.

Keep praying, you WILL be heard, God DOES love us all! Some things just take time.

Yeah, it is anxiety. Worry. About how I’m going to survive until I’m dead. I’m having this horrible luck with keeping employment when I’m young, it won’t get easier as time goes on. 40’s and 50’s and 60’s - age discrimination is now a new factor.

I can believe it is either that I’m cursed by God or have bad luck. Since “bad luck” is not a permitted viewpoint (superstition) in the Catholic faith, the correct view is that I’m cursed by God.
