Has anyone seen the previews of this TV show called “God or the Girl.” It is this ridiculous TV show that follows 5 men thinking about going into the priesthood, but the twist is they have to decide to fully break up with their current girlfriend or stay with them and not become a priest. If anyone has seen the preview you would be able to tell that these people are paid actors, what bothers me is the spin they put on what the church believes. Check out this web site that talks about it.

Typical anti-Catholic bigotry of the liberal elitist. I have come to the conclusion that the current Entertainment industry must be eliminated. If we do not watch, they will lose revenue and have to declare bankruptcy. Then we can pick up the remains and create a morally responsible industry.

I fail to see how this is anti-Catholic bigotry. It might be total ****, like 90% of the shows on TV (when oh when will they bring back Futurama?).

A heads up on being labeled an extremist for your views. You may get the typical response of “we are not here to create utopias” or whatever…

You and I represent far less than 10% of the Catholics of this country. Probably less than 10% of the Catholics on this board.

I was “watching” a sitcom with some of my relatives one night. I felt embarrassed for them. A good part of the sitcom (I think it was an ABC sitcom about a Hispanic family or something) was about sex, who wanted to have sex with who, where, when, why…

(These relatives of mine are practicing Catholics. They go to church every week, outstanding citizens, etc.)

The guys are not actors actually. You can read more about it at Bettnet.
Seems like you might have jumped the gun on this one.

Yours in Christ,
Thursday

Finally was able to see the first DVD. I thought it was pretty well done and fair. Definitely not Catholic bashing, especially for a secular network. These young men are a lot more orthodox than a lot of the old hippie liberal priests out there now, it gives me hope for the future. I would not hesitate to recommend it to my non-Catholic friends. I had to laugh though, the theme song is by “Jars of Clay” a totally evangelical protestant band!😃

Ouch… poor thread got chewed up by the forum crash. There was a ton of discussion about the show, too.

I guess I’ll sum it up -

Some liked the concept, but others were worried that it would be another anti-Catholic show. Then, as the mini-series went on, they liked it, and tried to guess who would become a priest at the end.

Which of the guys chose to become Priests anyways?
I love the way some people on this site claiming to be such high and mighty catholics believe it’s their God given right to judge others. They think their better than everyone else. That seems a bit anti christian to me.

uh, where did that come from? Aw, don’t be so mad.

Cheer up! It’s just the effects of original sin peeking out. We have to be patient with each other.

I like your user name!

I got a little peeved at Hildebrands remark. It just struck me that they were saying that they were elite catholics. Oh well, to each his own I guess.
Thanks for the compliment on my user name!

Um, I actually know one of the guys personally and fyi they are not paid actors.

One of the guys was from our Diocese, they are not paid actors. I think you need to start researching these things before you go typing rants.

This was definitely a good show. It was very respectful of the Church. The onloy problem I see is the name. It gives the idea that people are choosing between God or marriage to a girl, when, in truth, both paths are ways of following God, and some of these participants may simply not be called to the priesthood. Although this shows typical secular ignorance of the faith, I do not find any ill-intent.

Actually, NONE of the men entered seminary, although Steve appeared to at the end of the series. He ended up changing his mind before actually entering.

Very sad.
