How do we respond to the arguments that God “kills” innocent people, including women and children, as depicted on the OT?

This, especially with the pro-life stance of Christianity, or the stance that God is Love.

never fall for this tired old trick, it is fromt he fallen one, the father of lies. when put in such a defensive position, turn the tables on them by asking for true examples that bear thier knowledge of our Faith. they will be unable. they deal only in generalities.

naturally you have to be ready to tell them the Truth. this only happens if you are adequately prepared. fortunately, a good catholic is humble to recognize his or her shortcomings and will continually study the Faith. in truth, we never stop studying what the Nazarene and his church have put forthe.

Mark 10:18-19

“Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit murder; do not steal; do not accuse anyone falsely; do not cheat; respect your father and your mother.’”

First, read the text of the Bible to see what God said and why He said it. Anytime God ordered the slaughter of another tribe, He explained why this was necessary.

For instance, in Joshua, he ordered the slaughter of the other tribes, because if Israel didn’t kill them all, then the defeated tribe would mix with Israel and bring in false idols and pagan worship and all thing abominable to God.

Israel disobeyed God, and quickly fell into the idolatry that these other tribes brought with them.

Moral: If you do not rid yourself of the things that can take you away from God, then you may most certainly be drawn away from God.
