Are you saying that you do not know the purpose of a homosexual in the eyes of God?
No, I can see the connection of celibacy being seen as a way to glorify God. However I don’t see how giving people the inclination to be aroused by children or being a sociopath glorifies God.

You earlier acknowledged original sin as the thrust behind our disordered nature. Yet you infer here again that God is “giving people inclinations” to sin. Being capable of distinguishing this reality is vital if you are to come close to an awareness of why people are burdened with a certain sinful inclination. As far as the homosexual inclination vs. pedophile vs. sociopath? In this example, you seem to forget that it is the renouncing and turning from a sinful inclination that gives glory to God. For the homosexual, a life of celibacy glorifies God. For the sociopath, reconciliation and a humble determination to live a holy life gives the glory.

Does this mean you do not think they should or can fight their temptations?

ok I understand, sorry for wasting space.
There is no waste of space, thank you for asking!

So many people come on these boards not only to question Catholic teaching, but to do battle with it and belittle it. That is why some people come off as defensive or matter-of-fact in their explanations. We just get used to having those types of discussions sometimes. This happens to the best of us, including myself.

However, coming and questioning these positions with a real spirit of wanting to understand is something else, and is admirable. We learn by asking questions, and as long as we are open to the answers that are given, all is well! 🙂 I learned a few things myself here, so I think that this conversation was a good use and time and space.

Fully agree. Thanks to the OP for being open and inquisitive. Sorry if our answers are given in a “tone” of dismissal.

Is “genetic” same-sex attraction a proven fact? I don’t know. I’m just asking.

It’s not. Some people have “proof” it is, and some people have “proof” it isn’t. It’s still very contested.
