Hello everyone. I wish you’ve had a wonderful day

So i have a question in my mind for days now . So I haven’t been baptized due to some reason in the past . As time went by i grew up and i really wanted to get baptized. My uncle biggest dream was to get me baptized and be my godfather . Due to this coronavirus everything got locked down and even churches so we we’re waiting for everything to re-open so i could finally get baptized . Sadly , mu uncle passed away 3 days ago and ive been devastated and not emotionally well . His biggest dream was to baptize me and be my godfather . And after all this day this question is on my mind . Can he still be my godfather even after he passed away ? I promised him and gave him my word that he will be my godfather and no one else . Thank you

I am sorry for your loss. Your uncle sounds like a wonderful man to have lead you to the Church. However, a dead man cannot be your godparent. A godparent is meant to be someone that will guide you, and teach you about your faith when the need arises, or to advise you when he thinks you need gentle correction. I don’t see how this is possible. Is there someone else that can step in? Perhaps if he has a son that attends church, or another uncle?

Thank you for replying to my question

I felt it that there was going to be a different answer from what i wanted to get . He luckily has 2 wonderful sons that are very religious . I couldn’t make his dream true but i know he’s watching me from up there and he would be very happy to let his bigger son to be my godfather .

Thank you so much from answering to my question. May god bless you and you’re loved ones

I am sure that his son will be honored to serve as your godfather! And you will both feel a special connection because of your uncle.

God bless you in your journey!

I am so sorry for your loss. Please go ahead with your plans to be baptised into the Catholic faith. Pray for your future Godfather who will no doubt come along and be a very good Godfather in place of your uncle. I am sure your uncle will be so joyful of your baptism and entry into the church.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m not catholic so I don’t know if this would be possible…to not only have your cousin step in as your Godfather but could the Priest mention your uncle in memoriam in some way?

Your uncle still gets the credit before God for all the effort he put in.
