Hi.

I wondered on whether a practicing Catholic person may be a godfather / godmother for a baby baptised into Protestantism?

Thanks 🙂

I don’t think so. The only thing have to go on though is my examination of conscience I use before confession. Since it’s from a book from a reputable Catholic source I expect it’s right.

We can’t receive Protestant communion. I don’t see why we should participate in their baptism either.

I would raise him in Christianity and my values as a Catholic. I just wanted to know.

I don’t think I going to be asked, but it’s nice to know what the Church teach before I involve myself in it.

I’m of course going to attend his baptism.
There is nothing wrong with that as far as we don’t recieve Communion somewhere outside of the Catholic Communion.

“Be present for” and “participate in” are completely different things. I mean look at the example I gave even. You can go to a non-catholic communion service, but you’d better not participate, ie. receive their communion. Sorry that I caused you confusion.

Oh okay. I see. Thank you for clairifying 🙂 God bless you! @chessnerd321
