I didn’t know which category to post this in, but was wondering I get the blessing of being my newborn niece’s Godmother this weekend:) I have never been a Godparent before but I know the basics and such:) just was wondering for gift ideas what should I get her? 🙂

If you can afford it, a nice small gold crucifix or medal necklace. She can wear this for the rest of her life.

Masses said every year on the anniversary of her baptism.

How do you go about having a mass said on that day every year? Just wondering tried calling my hometown parish rectory just to ask but they didn’t really know  do I call the parish where my niece is getting baptized?

I work for a parish.

This, and every other parish I know would simply put the date on the calendar and ask if you would like to make an offering toward this. They would ask if you want to come pick out a card.

You could also call the baptismal parish, mission parishes, etc.

My parents got our son a Chews Life teething rosary, which was great in Masses when he was younger. They also gave him a small Noah’s ark toy that had a lion, giraffe, zebra and elephant, each one making a different noise (not a Mass toy haha). The couple we chose as his godparents gave him a Bible with his name embossed on the front.

My husband and I have given a crib ornament (I don’t know how to describe that) in the image of the guardian angel with the two children, meant to be hung near the crib (not big, but too big to be a choking hazard, by the way). We also gave a small delicate piece of religious jewelry to the girl for whom we were asked to be godparents.

Just some ideas! 🙂

My son and daughter in law gave our granddaughter (their niece) a nice blue cross pin with the idea that it would be her something blue on her wedding day.
