how do u know that god is with me through difficult times of my life?

God is with me and so God is with you at all times in your life.

Assuming you have been baptised then the Catechism states:
1265 Baptism not only purifies from all sins, but also makes the neophyte “a new creature,” an adopted son of God, who has become a "partaker of the divine nature,"69 member of Christ and co-heir with him,70 and a temple of the Holy Spirit.71

1266 The Most Holy Trinity gives the baptized sanctifying grace, the grace of justification :
  • enabling them to believe in God, to hope in him, and to love him through the theological virtues;
  • giving them the power to live and act under the prompting of the Holy Spirit through the gifts of the Holy Spirit;
  • allowing them to grow in goodness through the moral virtues.

Because Christ promised “I will never leave you or forsake you” and He IS truth. Any separation from God is because we have chosen to move away.

The Holy Spirit is God. God’s comfort is not limited to any one of the three persons of the Trinity.

I also just left an old Catholic church under a door with a carving of Jesus labeled in large wooden letters “Christ the Consoler” under it.

One of my all time favorite paintings is Carl Blochs “The Consolator ”. He did two kinds I believe, I favor the one with the long white robe. His b&w sketches of our Lord are beautiful, he captures so much in the eyes. The “Pool of Bethesda” by Bloch is also becoming a favorite, love his profile.
Ofcourse I’ve no idea how our Lord looks but his religious paintings are beautiful. I only just learned he wasn’t Catholic few short years ago.
(sorry to derail)

Hi. Because God cannot lie, it goes against His very nature and He said He’ll be with us until the end. It’s so hard not to judge based on our feelings especially when we’re down but we really can’t judge Truth that way. God bless you, many of us have been in your shoes.

Look at a crucifix in a Catholic Church and realize that God was with Christ all through his agony. And then God conquered death. Look at that representation and remember Christ’s words, "I will leave the 99 and go in search of the one lost.) If you are lost, don’t loose hope, He is coming.

Edited to say; Why? Because He said he was…

Has everyone run out of likes?

(No sooner said than wrong!)

Actually you have to show that that’s how it works through scripture.

I was having a bad day and the title in this post struck me. I found a lot of comfort in the first few posts. Too bad it got derailed over a trivial spat

I know what you mean, God, the third person of the Trinity.

A little over a year ago, not to long after I entered the Catholic Church after the Easter Vigil, a depression I had been struggling with for years dragged me deep into an inner darkness. I had been argumentative with my loving wife through no fault of her own. Chronic pain I’ve had since 2006 had taken its toll on me. After I had picked another fight with my wife, I stormed out of my home. Without getting into details of what I had done to myself, I don’t think I should be here today. God intervened to keep me around. I felt his presence, felt more at peace than I could ever remember, and knew I had to go to confession.
At confession my priest told me I had not sinned, but was ill, though he did absolve me of my sins, and told me to seek medical attention immediately. I did as he said. I felt driven to go home to tell my wife everything, and to have her accompany me to our doctor. After getting on meds, I attended counseling. I’ve never been more at peace and happier than I am today.
God is with us, and I thank Him every day.
