This was an idea that came across my mind that I felt like sharing:
First off, I have always been very interested in astronomy and am in complete awe when I contemplate the immensity of our own solar system, let alone our galaxy, or the entire universe. The fact that as humans we can’t even comprehend the distance and sizes of the closest stars in the night sky (which only includes the stars visible to the naked eye within our own galaxy) makes me marvel at God’s creative power. Those visible stars are just but one grain of sand in a world of beaches. Each of those stars has it’s own solar system and unique beauty (the planets of our solar system are breath-taking and I can’t imagine how God designed the other billions upon billions upon billions).
I believe that from the sheer size of our universe that there almost has to be other life “out there”. Whether that’s a bacteria or who knows what. However, I have wondered if there are other “humans” out there. And when I say “humans” I refer to the possibility of another creation of God who shares in our human nature, namely being that God has also given them a soul.
So just imagine this:
WHAT IF us humans here on Earth were God’s only creation who he gave a soul? WHAT IF we were His only creation meant to share with Him in Heaven? That would mean that He created, in our terms, an ‘infinite’ universe which we will never even come to fully discover just for us. To me it feels like His creation of the universe is His way of showing us how almighty He truly is. One could say that He went “a little overboard” when he created the billions upon billions of galaxies, but this has to be nothing when compared with its creator. But how beautiful is the idea that God created an ‘infinite’ universe to humans just to demonstrate His greatness. And why couldn’t He have done that for us?
We always talk about having contact one day with ‘aliens’, but what if we turned the thinking around to contemplate what it would mean if we truly were the only creation given body and soul and were given the gift of the universe by our creator? I also wonder how many people would convert and become religious if we were somehow able to prove that us humans are the only body-and-soul creatures in the universe. I feel like everyone would believe in God if that were true.
