God's Mountain--Sermon, Transfiguration

In the Bible the "high places "are a euphemism for pagan altars.But mountains were also seen as places to be in contact with God or gods-the higher up you go the higher you are to heaven!
 
Most likely mountain to be Moses’ Sinai(Horeb) is Jabal Musa in the Sinai
 
So with the sermon, the people followed Jesus up to the mountain and unlike Moses bringing God’s word down Jesus taught right there but like Moses taught the word and Jesus added the most important commandment.
Spirtual food but also he fed the people on the mountain.

Also to me the mountains are far removed from the city usually:)

I know when we go to our cabin up north it seems like it is in another world it is so peaceful. We are in the lowest swamp possible in our state but it feels like tha nature of God is there.

Thank goodness for that.

reminds me of that story of Elijah in the cave on the mountain where God revealed Himself in the slight breeze. Also in Genesis when Adam and Eve heard God approaching in the cool of the morning.
