What do you think of calling God by His name Yahweh :bowdown:(YHWH)? I feel like it is much more personal and a good way to grow in connection with Him. For example;

“Please pray for my friend. He is very sick.”
“I will pray for Yahweh’s Grace to be upon him.”

I like Yahweh over Jehovah because Jehovah just reminds me of the Witness’.

Thoughts?
“Twice over it is said, ‘He that blasphemeth the name of the LORD , he shall surely be put to death…’ (Leviticus 24:16).
Every Jew, therefore, became so much alarmed at the danger connected with the pronouncing, or writing of this wonderful name, that he dared not give the expression to it for fear that the stroke of God might come upon him for uttering, and possibly blaspheming, the incomprehensible, or, what might be called, THE name of his God.
The consequence was that after a certain time, there was no knowledge of the way in which Jehovah should be pronounced; and when the scribes were writing out the Scriptures, and came to the name of Jehovah, The Awful One, they would lay down their pens, in most cases, and would not write it as originally given, but would write the less awful Name of Adonai, meaning, My Ruler.”

-The Titles of Jehovah, Webb-Peploe. 1901.

The names of God are used in conjunction with the situation to illuminate a different part of God. Elohim is the fourth word in Genesis; El is derived from Elohim and means The Strong One so when Jesus cries out from the cross, he cries, “Eloi, Eloi”, which means “My Strength, My Strength”. El Shaddai means the Almighty, All-Sufficient God. And this continues on for every name that has ever been contributed to God.

Sounds like you’ve decided that for me. Not once did I say i know better than anyone or anything. I merely asked a question that I had been contemplating. So, at least i know you have the right to tell me what I have done. Thank you.
I wasn’t clear and I apologize. I should have said that one who is excommunicated has separated oneself. It was meant as a general statement, not something directed at you personally.

You state that it seems more personal to you. Consider this quote: “The pronunciation of yhwh as Yahweh is a scholarly guess.” - Anchor Bible Dictionary

So how personal is a “scholarly guess”? My personal opinion is stick with what we know trusting the early church and use the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12) and Abba, Father (Romans 8:15).

Also as others have stated, Yahweh refers to the Triune God, not simply God the Father. No name has been revealed for God the Father, and no name has been revealed for God the Holy Spirit.

Thank you all for your responses. May Mother Mary shine Her Graces on you and bring you closer to God.

YHWH is the name of G-d, but Jews use the same “Lord” as Christianity uses (Adonai, or Adonoi for Ashkenazi Jews) and a lot of religious Jews will call G-d “HaShem” or “The Name,” reinforcing the sacredness of those four consonants.

So if I say “Yahweh bless you,” what’s going to happen? Is God going to be mad? Will I be excommunicated? Will the Church look down on me and deny me The Eucharist?
As someone said earlier, it doesn’t matter. Will God “be mad?” No, the creator of the universe is not a human, with human thoughts and feelings. Just call him anything you want, being respectful, of course!
