God's Will and Free Will

God’s omniscience does not contradict our free will. Does God knowing what will happen cause it to happen? No, that would be a logically fallacious conclusion.

How does knowing something will happen cause it to happen? It fails basic logic. Knowing it will happen means that it will happen. But knowing it will happen does not cause it to happen. That is the difference.

If we consider an analogy of a past event. For instance I know that the two twin towers fell in NY. But my knowing that did not cause it to happen. It just means I am certain it happened.

Future events are no different in this regard. I know with reasonable certainty that everyone alive today will die. However, my knowing this does not cause it to happen.
 
God’s providence does not contradict our free will either. God is able to do sufficient good in the world to bring about his will without it contradicting our free will. This squares with our experience. God doesn’t overwhelm us but he does give us what we need so we can choose the good.
