Going on Pilgrimage

Pilgrimages seem to take many forms - some test endurance, some are to far away places, and some are simply to the church down the road.

I read an interesting article in the Dominican magazine ‘Spirituality’ about pilgrimage including pilgrimages in other faiths.

This led me to think what are

a) The essentials of a Christian pilgrimage

and

b) What are the desireables?
