My dear husband is a LEGAL immigrant from England. We are in the process of filing for his adjustment of status (we just got married). After we are done with all the filing of paperwork and he has his green card, we will have spent close to $2000, and this is with us doing everything ourselves, no use of an attorney.
I have major issues with those who are here by breaking laws, when I know what incredible hardships families go through to do this legally. Why is it that one immigrant should be elegible for all the free perks, and we have to file and wait, and wait, and wait, and spend huge amounts of time and money?
Well, it’s because we have integrity and know that a law is a law, and our Faith requires us to not lie our way into the country.
This is a very touchy subject, and one I don’t personally have any answers to. I just know that I get incredibly frustrated when I hear the stories of the free health care, free schools, free food, for those who are here by breaking the law.
Well - at least I know we can sleep at night, knowing we are doing this the right and legal way.
