Personally, I’d recommend Sunday (or the Saturday vigil, which is counted as a Sunday mass). It’s the more full service, and there are likely to be a lot more people, so it will be less awkward. There’s always a few non-Catholics there for various reasons.
Excellent idea! I think OP is right in finding that the Mass itself will not appear extremely different from an Anglican service. Though not in full communion, the Anglican Church has its roots in the Catholic Church (more so than many other Protestant denominations).Go on YouTube and watch a Catholic Mass. It’s nice
I’ve been to one Anglican Mass, and it seemed in some ways like an English language version of the EF Mass. It was very reverent. Needless to say, I folded my arms across my chest and took a blessing (a very nice one too!) when I went up and knelt at the rail at Communion time.
Whatever you think is convenient for you. The weekly masses are shorter, less people go…so you may also want to go to get a feel for the Catholic Mass.
Yes, but at least where I’m from, the weekly masses often don’t have music (and aren’t considered the BIG Mass of the week). I think someone going for the first time would be more comfortable going on Saturday night/Sunday.
