It is my first pilgrimage. It is Our Lady of Good Help in Champion Wi

Sorry, all I had to do was read the thread heading!

That sounds great, I’ll search it and have a look.

I went on a very small pilgrimage to Walsingham in the UK. They traditionally walk a mile barefoot in silence and it’s actually quite moving when several hundred people are doing it. Followed by mass. It’s a famous shrine here.

I didn’t prepare for it exactly, just quietened my thoughts and prayed before walking, and while walking. It was a nice day.

I hope it goes well for you.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there was a great prairie fire at some point in the past and the church there was saved. Or am I confusing it with somewhere else?

I hope you have a nice time and you have a nice group. Maybe you’ll come back with stories from your pilgrimage like Chaucer did, and you can call them the “Champion Tales”

Relevant Radio, you probably have access to them if you know about Our Lady of Good Help talks about them frequently, they have been largely headquartered in Wisconsin though now, there have been the mergers, I don’t know if there have been major changes. Good for you.

I’ve done a pilgrimage to Walsingham, too. It’s lovely walking the mile, as there are crops growing in the fields, and birds singing.

Definitely didn’t go barefoot, though. Perhaps that has died out, with people getting older. It certainly wasn’t mentioned at all.

Oh that’s nice.
No, I didn’t go barefoot either but some of our party did, it was in the summer.

I don’t know that I do anything special to prepare…

I may pray on the way in the car. I’m usually very happy and excited to be going, so I’ll thank God for the opportunity to go, and for the blessings involved.

I’ll also look for ways during my time at the shrine and during that particular day, where the spiritual may be present in my life.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I try and devote that time and that day to really focusing on being with the Lord, without being so distracted by other things.

I don’t know where you live, but if you get the chance to visit other parts of Wisconsin, there are other shrines in the state if you don’t know about them.

Here is information about the other shrines:

This shrine is a national shrine that is located outside of Milwaukee, WI.

Holy Hill, Hubertus, WI:

This shrine is located in the western part of Wisconsin, not far from the Mississippi River.

Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, WI:

This small shrine is located in the southeastern part of the state.

La Salette Missionaries and Shrine, Twin Lakes, WI:
