How Should I spiritualy prepare to make a pilgrimage?

I’ve done a pilgrimage to Walsingham, too. It’s lovely walking the mile, as there are crops growing in the fields, and birds singing.Sorry, all I had to do was read the thread heading!
That sounds great, I’ll search it and have a look.
I went on a very small pilgrimage to Walsingham in the UK. They traditionally walk a mile barefoot in silence and it’s actually quite moving when several hundred people are doing it. Followed by mass. It’s a famous shrine here.
I don’t know that I do anything special to prepare…How Should I spiritualy prepare to make a pilgrimage?
