Wow I was just asking myself what happened to all the posts? I was going to post that question. I read that this was wiped out? Man I have been off for a long time.
Anyways I am going to ask a question about vocations.
I was thinking a lot about my call and the lack of exciting responses. I had I thought a spiritual director and we hit it off I thought. He told me that he would call and email me and then ask me how things were going and see where I am at as far as the call or whether I am heading the right way and all that. I never ever heard from him again. Before that I had that horrible experience at Broom Tree. I was about to give up and was about to call it quits. I got this intense feeling to call the Bishop in Tennessee, he answered and we talked for 30 or so minutes. The question I ask is, am I worthy of a look at even though I only graduated high school? doesn’t knowing three trades two musical instruments and life in general worth something? I need some advise to take with me when i meet the bishop. Any suggestions? Thanks God Bless Scoob.

I know I am sounding like a broken record but…

You need a spiritual director.

If you talked with someone you liked and he said he would call or email you and he has not done so yet then take the initiative and call him back. Start off by saying that he told you he would get in touch with you and seeing that he has not done so yet you thought you would touch base with him to make sure everything is all right with him.

As for talking to the bishop. It is a might be a good thing but do not expect anything from him. I highly doubt he will make any commitments with you. You need to work though vocation directors.

Have you looked into any religious orders? and what about a spiritual director? (I know I keep bring that up but it is the most important thing you can do when you are discerning a vocation)

Don’t fret over that. Takes time, that’s all.

I second what ByzCath said. Just call him up and see what has happened.

Wow, it took a middle man (VD and parish priest) before I got to speak with my bishop and meet him in person.

Yes, you are worthy. And yes, life experience can be a great asset for a future priest. However, it is not required. In fact, traditionally, I am guessing, most prospective priests have been younger men. What you need is college seminary, a place where you can discern and grow in your faith. And yes, it’ll provide you with some life experience plus anything else you need before starting your theology studies.
