Good books for Grieving Parents?

Hi, everyone. My mom’s side of the family and I are all super close, but we are currently wrestling with our first loss— my mom’s brother passed away suddenly last Sunday (the feast of St. Monica). Now, both of my maternal grandparents, who are on the brink of their eighties, are still alive, but they never imagined they would have to suffer the loss of their child before they themselves had passed. I just ordered my mom a company of The Other Side by Michael Brown, which I just started because it provided me with a lot of hope and joy… I would send that to my grandparents to console them, except I fear that could come across as a bit morbid, given their age… Would any of you happen to have any other good books to recommend for mourning parents? Also, please keep my family in your prayers. Thank you!

Dear Dorothy, I did have a range of books regarding grieving but gave them to the parish library.
However I’m responding because I feel very much for you all, and in a particular way, your maternal grandparents.
I’ll pray for you all at Mass tomorrow. It may be helpful to ask her intercession.

.The rest of Mary’s life, after her Son’s death, must have been excruciating in waves. Yes He was now in Heaven, but she is His parent, His Mother, and He was her boy. Because as your grandparents know, it doesn’t matter how grown up your child is.
