I have someone (born a Muslim & who considers himself to be Muslim) who has expressed an interest in Christianity.

Does anyone know any good books on conversion from Islam to Christianity. I’ve read some amazing stories but am wondering if there is a good book on the subject to help him decide. He may attend RCIA classes later.

Thanks,

RCIA is a good idea. Our parish has seen several new catholics who converted from Islam through that mechanism.
Let him know that RCIA is a process of enquiry…that entering RCIA is not making a commitment to become catholic…only a process for considering it.

Hi: Thanks. Yes, I explained that classes would help him decide if it was for him and that there is no commitment. I thought that there might be a good book ( not the Good Book )
that might explain some things. There are many for protestants considering Catholic faith so thought there might be something out there for Muslims.

Sure, I read three awesome and inspiring books.

In the order of my favourite:

The Torn Veil, by Gulshan Ester ( One of my all time favourite books! )
Now I dare to call him Father, Bilquis Sheikh (A Classic )
Islam and Terrorism, Mark A. Gabriel ( the title might be too disturbing for your friend, but anyhow, others here could really learn a lot from this book.

All three are very easy to read, extremely captivating and inspiring and are written by contemporary people.👍

This is an excellent account of the conversion of an Iraqi couple’s conversion:

The Joseph Fadelle book sounds great. I’ve already ordered the Torn Veil so will let him start with that. If he reads it, maybe will then get the other one too. I don’t want to overwhelm him with books too soon.

I haven’t read either so don’t know which is better but what I was hoping to find is one that compares the two religions. I have read the Koran and know what they are taught about Jesus. Mohammed states in there that Jesus was probably the greatest prophet that ever lived but was only a prophet, not God and not the son of God as God cannot have a son, etc. If you are taught that from a young age, it is difficult to think differently. This particular man at least went to a Catholic school as a child because they had the best school in his are of Egypt but only attended the religious education occasionally just to be with his school friends. Perhaps a seed was planted.

Sometimes a person may not know enough scripture to understand why they should consider changing and maybe they have heard a lot of inaccurate things about the Catholic faith (like we worship Mary, & statutes, etc.) I hope the book clears up any misperceptions.
