I have noticed a few of our fellow CAFers have announced they are leaving CAF for other adventures. It has gotten me thinking, and I think I am going to follow suit. I have other interests, and things I want and need to do. So for now, good-bye. After a season, I may come back. That will remain to be seen.
I first came to CAF seeking understanding of loved ones in my life who still practice the faith. I have a good understanding of the faith itself, but I was seeking to understand why the people in my life are the way they are. I love them dearly, but had difficulty communicating with them sometimes because we are so far apart on specific issues as well as general philosophies. I love these people and wanted to close the gap, to the extent I could.
I appreciate the engagement so many of you have offered me over the past several months. I learned what I have always known, Catholics are in a class by themselves, and for the most part they are wonderful people. I have been reminded of things I had forgotten about (some good memories; some affirmation of why I left the Church).
I hope the best for all of you in life and in your faith journey. I encourage you to stay civil with each other. It is such a good testament to your faith, and that is coming from someone who is looking in from the outside. Honestly, from where this outsider stands, it is the best witness you can give. Love each other.
Peace to all of you.
