My wife & I are planning on sponsoring a child through a charity.
I would prefer this charity to be a Catholic charity with orthodox Catholic teaching behind it.

Can anyone direct me to the most sound Catholic charities who sponsor individual children?

Thanks

Most Catholic dioceses support the work of missions- and there are many orders such as the Maryknolls that do nothing but missions. Ask your priest if he knows a priest or religious in a mission and then ask around to find out about the place. Catholic magazines often carry ads about missions, as well, make sure you check them out carefully. There are some websites that evaluate charities, unfortunately, I no longer have the bookmark for them, but a Google search will surely turn them up. The best scenario is that someone you know, knows of a mission or knows someone who works in one, and can vouch for the good work being done.
Best wishes in your search, and I do hope some child will truly benefit.

I worked with this charity in Honduras. It is extremely solid in her teaching. Our mission is to catechise and evangelize the people in the true Church!

The page needs updated but check it out! It still has some good information. God bless you and your family!

Hi,
I am also involved with different child sponsorship groups. They are not Catholic but I have found a Catholic sponsorship agency (Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) is a lay Catholic organization committed to creating relationships between sponsors in the United States and children and aging persons in 26 developing nations around the world.) and my next sponsored child will be through them.
You can also sponsor a vocation candidate (Through a sponsorship commitment of $20 monthly, you can choose to help a young girl or boy, a teenager, an elderly man or woman or a person with special needs. For a $50 monthly commitment, you can choose to support a vocation candidate as he or she studies for religious life. Payment options include payment by check, credit card or automatic bank withdrawal.)
