Can someone recommend me a good Catholic book on Evolutionary Theology? Something that discusses different viewpoints and possibilities?

Since evolution is a science, and can only evaluate the physical universe, it is completely unable to address the issue of God or even the supernatural.

However, some theologians have tried, coming from the other direction. Teilhard de Chardin attempted a theological explaination, but I’m not sure he did a very good job of it. I’m no theologian, so I really can’t say, but learn about it here:

Thank you.

Another term more commonly used is “theistic evolution” rather than “evolutionary theology”.

Here’s an excellent text, written by a cell biologist who’s also a committed Catholic:

Kenneth R. Miller, Finding Darwin’s God: A Scientist’s Search for Common Ground Between God & Evolution (HarperCollins, 1999)

I also recommend this book, written by a Wesleyan Protestant who’s a physicist, but a good basic treatment:

Karl Giberson, Worlds Apart: The Unholy War Between Religion & Science (Beacon Hill Press, 1993)

Happy reading!

He is methodist or a non fundamentalist evangelical (yes that breed do exist) not catholic, but Francis Collins; the Language of God is very good.

Steven Barr, tackles evolution in a couple of his chapters in the book, Modern Physics and Ancient Faith.

You need to read God After Darwin: A Theology of Evolution, by John F. Haught, professor of theology at Georgetown U. and director of The Georgetown Center for the Study of Science and Religion.

Oh, by the way, he’s Catholic.😃

There is a book called “Creation in evolution” thats was written in Princenton NJ by some one with a german name, Karl Schm… adn some Jesuit.
Do a search for it.
Adding Darwins God, and the prior post.
And never forget good old Teilhard.
