I was just wondering where to look or who to look for to get some good Catholic preaching. I have a lot of cd’s but mostly apologetics stuff. I want to start getting some preaching stuff now and learning how to live and know God better as a Catholic instead of just learning about the beliefs(which is great don’t get me wrong;)). Any suggestions for people besides Fr. Corapi or Fr. Groeschel? or certain cd’s or talks that you know of?

p.s. you could mention books as well, if any come to mind.

Scott Hahn is a favorite of mine. He is more of a theologian than a preacher, but he can be very inspiring.

Fr. George Rutler has a series entitled, “Christ in the City” that I enjoy a lot. He is more subdued and crafted in his delivery than Fr. Corapi, but his insights are always erudite, thought-provoking and inspirational. You can find it on EWTN, Tuesdays at 10:00 or 10:30 p.m CDT. They probably have older episodes on their website somewhere too.

My favorite is Father Larry Richards - www.thereasonforourhope.com. I have several of his CDs and listen to them over and over. His homilies can be downloaded from his website.

I also like listening to Father Robert Barron - Word on Fire website.

Thanks everyone, for the suggestions and especially for the websites. I’ve never seen sites where you can just listen to or download a bunch of homilies…very cool:thumbsup:. I’ll definitely be checking out all of them soon. God bless.

I know you said besides Fr. Corapi but like a previous poster I have to put him in as a suggestion anyways. This guy is excellent. Not only has he been to the bottom and back but he is a powerful speaker and has a good sense of humor. I set my alarm to watch his program when it comes on EWTN, even if it is a repeat.

TJ, you mentioned books, so I’m going to highly recommend one I’m presently reading: Christ In His Mysteries, by Bl. Columba Marmion, Zaccheaus Press. This is a new edition and translation of a classic work. Bl. Columba beautifully presents the theology of St. Paul regarding the indwelling of Christ. The book isn’t difficult reading, but it is extremely insightful with lots of material for personal meditation. You will find it very supportive of your maturing in the Catholic Faith.

I second Fr. Barron. He has audio files of all his homilies archived on his website going back to December 31, 2000! Good stuff.

If you’re looking for Catholic audio, try Sonitus Sanctus. The blog is run by a CAF member and he basically collects links to free Catholic audio all over the web. Very helpful.
I put this one on my blog, a wonderful 6 minutes. I’ve also quoted him a number of times in scriptural exegesis:

I own a couple of his DVD’s but that one was a HomeRun

Father John Riccardo. He is the host of the radio program “Christ is the Answer” that airs on ave maria radio. His audio files are posted on his parish website. You can find them here
