Hi, I just wanted to ask what good charities are out there that I can donate to, charities that don’t support anything that the Church is against. Give me specifics because I’m also planning on searching them up on Amazon’s “AmazonSmile.”

I’m also looking for particular charities that fight against human trafficking, so if you guys know of any, let me know.

One excellent Catholic children’s charity is Chalice…we sponsor them through our school board (Catholic obviously) and I personally sponsor a child there as well…they were ranked as one of the top in Canada…

Thanks for the post, Erich. Sadly I recently donated money to CRS without knowing about that whole issue.

Does anyone know of a site that has a comprehensive review of Catholic related charities? I appreciated the note on CRS. I’m going to re-evaluate my donations to them.

Cross Catholic Outreach - I just found out they have a Protestant side to their charity. Not a problem in of itself, yet, but why is this not made clear to the average Catholic making a donation. My concern is my donation being used to support “reproductive rights”.

Catholic Extension - ?
Aid to the Church in Need - ?
Opus Bono Sacerdotti - ?
Population Research Institute - ?
Priests for Life - ?
Sophia Institute - ?

Thanks,
Patrick

Can you please provide some info on the relationship between cross catholic outreach to reproductive rights?? I’m not aware of this… thanks!

Hello Cath4Life,

I’m sorry, I was a little misleading in my statement. I do not have any evidence of CCO supporting birth control pills or abortion. I was thinking this could be a possibility since there is a protestant side of their charity. I have not been able to find anything on that.

You don’t hear about it because so many bishops continue to support CRS. There are some who have discontinued taking a collection for them, but as far as I know most are still doing so, and I just don’t understand why. It appears that the bishops are making a terrible mistake.
