Good Friday

At my church they said the rosary first led by a priest (a first for me) then we had Stations of the Cross, then the Good Friday Service with the Veneration of the Cross. It was a beautiful service, and my favorite part was the Rosary. The priest did a great job especially with the explaining of the mysteries.
 
We had an amazing holy Thursday Mass where the bishop gave the best homily on the real presence I have ever heard. But my good friday experience wasn’t as great. My hunsband had to work the 12 to 8am shift at work after being called in to work 8-4 the day before. So he was sleeping and I went to good firday service alone at 2-3pm. There was veneration of the cross and communion, but it was poorly organized so it did not lend itself to a very prayerful experience. The alter servers and the decon did not seem to know what the rubrics are for the tridium. The decon gave a aweful homily that had nothing to do with the passion of Christ. Instead it was on how acts of mercy not sacrifice are desred by God :confused: This on the day when Christ offered the ultimate sacrifice. Sigh. Then the choir sang Jerulsalem my Desitny during communion:( I think it was a very poor song choice for good friday. (caveat: I am 38 weeks pregnant and very hormonal/emotional) I ended up weeping after communion and again when I got home. I just hope the decon and the alter servers know whats going on tonight for Easter Vigil. But either way I am excited.
