This meme was posted on the Catholic Memes Facebook page, a page that is usually of good quality and not offensive at all. I and a few of my friends replied calling it blasphemy and were ridiculed, mocked, and attacked for saying this. Any thoughts or comments on the meme or the response I got? Am I overreacting?

I saw that meme too, and I didn’t quite get it. Maybe it’s because I’m willfully ignorant (I think Coors tastes like dung). Honestly, I think we can have a little humor in our religion without crossing over into blasphemy (especially when the intent is obviously to get a snicker via a play on words and not mock Our Lord for the sake of mockery).

Of course, this is coming from someone who lists “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” among their favorite comedy movies.

Well, its dreck. reminds me of Jimmy Carters’ bro & Billy Beer.

As with all these meme things I can’t ever tell what should be obvious and what depends on a previously understood cultural reference. Is that guy from some cult-following film? Or is he just supposed to be your run of the mill redneck? I’m not sure. I suppose I’m not in a position to say whether it’s blasphemy or not.

I will tell you that the purported miracle isn’t at all miraculous since Coors Light is still water.

I agree with you this is blasphemous and disgusting.
This.
Not to mention lame .Good humour ,the really clever humour ,doesn’t have any need to be offensive to anyone.

In my opinion it’s just stupid. 🙂

“Judaean People’s Front” or “the People’s Front of Judaea”?

Answer very carefully.

I must ask. Exactly who is enjoying all of this miraculous, free Coors Light? I must know. I must. I must. 😎

i saw that

it is dumb & stupid

but whatever; trolls are going to have their internet fun

mostly because christians never object

we are calm & peaceful & and can (to a degree) accept parody of our faith

I wouldn’t have posted or reposted that myself, but I am over cautious. I think that it is close enough to be in bad taste. Saint Faustina said in her diary one time: "You would be surprised what our Lord finds offensive.

Is a bad joke really worth three extra months in purgatory?😮

I think it’s just in poor taste and not funny. I’m not a big fan of catholic memes on face book myself.

Clearly blasphemy. We seem to have a very poor understanding of what constitutes blasphemy. ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked’.
