We have a 9 year old and an almost-5 year old who like to play online. We have a number of safe sites bookmarked for them, and the only way they even know HOW to get to a website is from their bookmarks.

Their new favorite site is EWTN kids!

www.ewtn.com/ewtnkids is so cute!

Coloring pictures of Mary. Putting together a church. Dressing Baby Grace!!

Beats Barbie, Bratz or DivaStars any day!!

My 5.5 yo dd is NUTS about the ewtn kids site!!! She literally will spend hours there if I let her. There is soooooo much there for kids, and you can walk away knowing you don’t need to censor anything. It really teaches them soooo much! 👍 :clapping:

Don’t assume they are safe, or as ignorant as you think. I caught my 9 year-old after he was looking at porn. Thank God I happended to check the browser history file that day.

He heard about google.com at school, so he went to google and type in some “inappropriate” search terms. Bam. It is right in your face.

Families with kids on the internet need CYBERSitter or the equivalent. Check out www.cybersitter.com. EWTN is terrific, but you cannot guarantee your kids will stay there.

Oh I agree completely. We have cybersitter AND Norton Internet Security parental controls on.

Even if my 9 year old just wanted to look for a new doll and typed in “American girls” on google, expecting to see American Girl dolls…who knows WHAT she’d see. Cyber sitter is really good at catching that stuff. Plus, our computer(s) are in public viewing areas of the living room. I can see at a glance where the kids are. And I set cyber sitter to allow NO access when I’m not home.

But anyhow–EWTN is a good place for them!! I like the book that tells their life story–and it starts at CONCEPTION!! 🙂

My kids also like bigideafun.com which is from the people who make veggie tales, and larry-boy.com …neither is as good as EWTN, but fun nonetheless!

I LOVE the EWTN Kids site, and so do my children.

I recently heard of another site “www.catchat.ca”, from Canada. It is a ‘Catholic Audio Show’ for children. There is music, coloring pages, and many other activities for children ages 3-11. There is also an area for parents and teachers. Very worthwhile! 🙂

I agree, that EWTN kids interactive site is GREAT! I even navigated thru the school, took a few quizzes, and got 1 or 2 answers wrong!!! 😛 Great tool for parents! 👍

It is amazing what the search engines bring up. Once I was looking for instructions on how to divide some lavender I had growing in my yard. I went to Yahoo, typed in Lavender and got a whole host of gay and bi- websites. I didn’t know lavender was their signature color

Thanks for the hint about cybersitter and EWTN. We have our computers in the den, so everyone is around when anyone is on the internet.
