Our new associate pastor isn’t a very good fit for my conservative parish. He’s in his late forties/early fifties. He’s just not very reverent and somewhat liberal in his homilies. For example on the Feast on the Assumption, he said the feast was really about hospitality. On the Gospel on entering heaven by the narrow door, he said we really need to look think around the narrow door  --that one was really vague and confusing. And, on All Saints Day, he said we are really all saints, so the feast day was celebrating us.

See? I thought I might give him a couple of subscriptions to good Catholic mags for Christmas.

Any suggestions? The Rock is an obvious one, of course. 🙂

Priest, from Our Sunday Visitor
Adoremus bulletin
get him Latin Mass, that will really freak him out

The best gift you could give him would be a spiritual bouquet. Promise to pray for him and then really do it. Pray that he would be supported in his vocation and grow ever closer to Christ. Don’t pray that he would change to be more what YOU would like, pray that he would conform his will to Christ and become ever more what GOD would like.

Our Sunday Visitor has several publications that would be appropriate.

Also, Scott Hahn’s St. Paul Center for biblical theology has a monthly newsletter that has an explanation of the Sunday readings for that month. They are excellent-- maybe that would give him some food for thought.

And, on All Saints Day, he said we are really all saints, so the feast day was celebrating us.

The communion of saints does include all those in heaven, earth and purgatory. Maybe it was not communicated clearly.

👍 All ready praying.

No kidding.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll check the budget and see which ones I can afford. 🙂
