Yes, yes, I know This Rock. I was looking for something not really on apologetics, but more in the realm of:
  1. News- I’ve been recommended The Wanderer and First Things.
  2. Theology- The Homiletic and Pastoral Review, The Latin Mass Magazine, and again, First Things.
I know very little about any of these so any info is welcome.

I used to subscribe to The Wanderer. It’s solidly orthodox, but, unfortunately, unremittingly negative. They provide valuable information but their negativity got old after a while.

I’ve read First Things a couple of times, but it never clicked for me – it was a bit “long winded”. My father-in-law, however, loves it.

New Oxford Review is still around (I think). I cancelled my subscription to it because its editor seemed more interested in picking fights with other Catholics than just about anything else.

Crisis was a good magazine but I think it’s gone under 😦

You could always check out Nat’l Catholic Reporter (just kidding. 😉 )

Homiletic and Pastoral Review is great. I highly recommend it.

As far as news… my favorite is The National Catholic Register. In fact, I have the latest copy sitting right next to me now. It’s not a magazine in the traditional sense but rather a weekly newspaper which keeps readers up to date with the latest “going ons” in the Church. I also like that subscribers can access the website and read the complete articles online when they find themselves “on the road” traveling.

I reading enjoy The Latin Mass Magazine, First Things, The Catholic Answer, of course, and the Marian Helper. The Wanderer and Our Sunday Visitor are good newspapers.

Celebrate Life is a great Pro Life magazine.

In our home The Latin Mass magazine and Catholic World Report are must-reads.

I appreciate Homiletic and Pastoral Review as well, but I let my subscription lapse. Just not enough time to read.

I was thinking of letting our New Oxford Review subscription lapse as well. I did not by any means always agree with the previous editor, but it was always engaging. The new editor has lost all the “edge” of the previous one and the latest issue is boring. However, my wife may choose to keep it for her own enjoyment.

The Wanderer is orthodox but certainly not a traditionalist paper and has in the past published some complete nonsense with regard to traditionalism; that never sat well with me.
