Good reads

What Catholic books do you guys recommend reading? I recently purchased the book Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. Townsend, but I am not sure if this is necessarily same teachings as Catholics. It is a Christian book however. Anyone heard of it?

What kind of book do you want? I think everyone should read G.K. Chesterton’s Orthodoxy and Augustine’s Confessions, to start.

Boundaries isn’t a specifically Catholic book. It’s more in the vein of Christianized pop psychology, just from what I read on Amazon. It’s not the kind of thing I would read, but to each his own.

Yes, there are soooo many books to choose from. I’ll suggest what brought me closer to the faith. I began with the lives of the sains, specifically St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Story of a Soul. Such a great book and never get tired of reading it. Also, the Catechism of the Catholic Church…I recommend going on EWTN religious catalog and looking for books there. Website is www.ewtnreligiouscatalogue. That would be a good place to look for good, sound, Catholic books. God bless!

Orthodoxy is the sequel to Heretics, I recommend reading them in order. You can get many of Chesterton’s books online here.

I periodically review and put together reading selections on my blog. I’m up to 26 so far. I usually have images of book covers so as you scroll quickly down you can find something interesting here. A wide variety of topics but all stuff I have read and deepened my conversion journey.

Let me recommend “The Imitation of Christ”.
