The Good Shepherd Contemplatives used to be known as the Magdalens. They were founded after several girls persevered in their petitions to St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier, RGS, to let them dedicate their lives to penance. After Vatican II, the Contemplatives were permitted to assimilate with the regular Good Shepherd sisters.
