Now that so much is coming out in the open, it is important to try to understand the roots of the problems in the Church! Praise God that the Holy Spirit is active but we must be receptive and take the time to go deeper in our understanding. Has anyone recently read the book Goodbye, Good Men by Michael S. Rose?

I am just reading it now even though it was first published in 2002. At that time, a wonderful religious sister sent me some information about it.

No…haven’t read it but it looks good. I was hoping it came in an audio download as I like to listen to audio while I crochet. I’ll check to see if it’s on audible…

I have a free Kindle app on my computer and I just found out that my computer has a “text - to - talk”
function so that e books that I download and books bought on Kindle that are downloaded can be “read” to me by the computer. It may be part of “Windows”. It’s great!

It’s been widely criticized for shoddy journalism and playing fast and loose with facts.

Thanks for letting me know. It has also received some good reviews and in the last few years a couple very trustworthy folks we know told of similar experiences as described in the book.
The good news is that many seminaries with problems have improved and there are good people in leadership positions.
It is not pleasant reading; But I think we are hearing about these things now by credible people and it is time to open our eyes so it doesn’t get bad again. We are not out of the woods yet!

I’m not sure the author’s research is credible, however. He appears to have accepted anecdotal evidence as without fact-checking.
Criticism came, not only from seminaries he accused, but from the National Catholic Register, and Crisis, among others.

that is has, but I am not surprised it is still around. that kinda fake news stuff always sells more than the truth does.

We need to have this researched again and meticulously and more comprehensively this time.
It seems like now we see this book only scratched the surface and we need more specific information, I agree. The Church needs this all to come out in the open and it should be investigated carefully with details.
It certainly is no longer speculation.
