From memory – I hope someone will correct me if I’m wrong – for as long as both Trautman and Arinze remained in their respective posts, the CDW never managed to get the USCCB to adopt a form of liturgy that Trautman disliked, and the USCCB never managed to get the CDW’s approval for the liturgy it wanted but failed to meet Arinze’s high standards.
