Got a restraining order

I described the situation with my husband in this thread, and everyone seemed to think I should leave him. I thought that would be wrong - but his behavior has worsened to the point that he is not only making my life miserable, but the children’s as well, and I’m afraid for their emotional health and their safety. I got a restraining order against him today and called the police to make him leave. I don’t know if I did the right thing. I don’t know what we’re going to do now. Please pray for my family.
 
I will pray for you Blind Sheep. You need to keep the strength and courage that it took to get that restraining order!

You need to protect your children’s physical and mental health. For what it’s worth, I think you did the right thing!

Yes, you did the right thing. No woman should be abused and no child should ever see their mommy being abused. By the way-it is a crime for a child to witness domestic violence here in NY state. If he has done this in front of the children, call child protective services. And document everything that he says to you and the children and also his behavior. Contact your nearest women’s shelter. I will look it up right now for you.

Jesus did say to turn the other cheek, but that is only my own. We are to defend the orphan, the widow, and the especially the defenseless. Never turn the cheek of a child.

Perhaps you could benefit from a talk with your parish priest,
or maybe you would like to talk with a Catholic counselor.

I think you need to leave and go some place where he can not find you. I don’t want to sound overly dramatic or scare you, but there are many men who have walk through a “restraining order” and injured or killed the person who obtained the restraining order. I think you need to protect yourself and your children.
