From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:
Prayers and Intercessions
The Lord gives righteousness to mankind, so let us pray to him:
- Righteous Lord, give us life.
Lord God, you yourself called our forefathers in faith to talk in your presence with pure hearts:
make us follow in their footsteps and become pure like them.
You chose the righteous man Joseph to bring up your Son:
make us serve our brethren, the mystical body of Christ.
You gave the earth to mankind to fill it and rule over it:
teach us to work with zeal in this world, constantly striving for your greater glory.
Father of all, remember the work of your hands:
grant to everyone a decent and peaceful working life.
Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Almighty God, at the beginning of your plan to save the human race you entrusted your Son to Joseph’s care.
By his intercession may your Church
be a constant faithful guardian of your saving mysteries.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
