Got this book from a Catholic priest

If you want to learn what Catholics believe then read The Catechism of the Catholic Church which is the official book summarising all the teachings of the Church (doctrine and discipline).

Its free online from the Vatican website:

I see that the copies for sale at Amazon and ACTA note that they have been revised in accordance with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Don’t know whether this implies that the earlier edition contained errors or was merely incomplete in some respects.
 
I see that this is in its 5th edition, having been released 25 years ago. I also see one of the authors is the (present) Archbishop of Washington, Donald Wuerl. I have my copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (as well as an old St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism which brings back happy memories of the 3rd grade for me!) but I don’t have this. Can’t really comment on it until I check it out at Barnes and Noble or some such in the next couple of weeks, but I would certainly look at it.

You may be referring to The Teaching of Christ . It appears that these are two different books, with which it looks like two different sets of authors.
