Michigan Democrat Governor Whitmer was disregarding social distancing guidelines and was surrounded by people who were not wearing masks.

Just last month she criticized those protesting her stay-at-home orders, saying their actions made it more likely that the lockdown would continue even longer.

“Social distancing is critical to stop the spread of COVID-19 — unless you have a great photo op,” Republican state Rep. Lynn Afenoudlis tweeted. “And control.”

Governor Whitmer was one of many Governors who decided to shut down businesses across the state, which contributed to forcing 38 million Americans into unemployment.

The Governor encourages large protest groups stacked closely together. Then why is a large part of Michigan still shut down?

The stay at home order was lifted on the first of this month.

If the desire to protest will stop the charade, and if it increases the likelihood that Governors will re-open more businesses and more regions of their states, that would be a good thing.

It appears that Governors should re-open everything.

Despite the Governor’s apparent lack of fear in the large stacked gathering, she STILL has not re-opened everything:

Indoor gatherings of up to 50 people and outdoor gatherings of up to 250 people will also be permitted beginning June 10, and outdoor performance and sports venues will be allowed to have up to 500 people inside, as long as individuals follow social distancing guidelines.

The re-openings are part of northern Michigan’s move into phase five of the six-phase MI Safe Start plan. The rest of the state remains in phase four, though Whitmer said she hopes the entire state will move into phase five in the coming weeks.

This fiasco could actually be kind of humorous if it hadn’t forced millions into unemployment, the permanent closings of businesses, the postponement of weddings and funerals, school closings…

Probably better than more people dead.

Is Governor Whitmer concerned at all about spreading coronavirus to and from the protesters?
Or, do these particular protesters have special powers that hard-working (now unemployed) Americans don’t have?

Probably not. She’s a hypocrite as are most when it comes to the protests and social distancing. That doesn’t mean the lockdown didn’t save lives.

I guess we’ll agree to disagree on part of this, but I respect your consistency.

I thought it was supposed to be more people dead by not practicing social distancing. How many more people will suffer and die horrible deaths as Gov. Whitmer encourages large protest groups closely stacked together. Why is she so heartless and so unconcerned about causing the deaths of so many innocent people who will be hurt by her encouraging protests without social distancing?

To paraphrase my grandma (God rest her soul) “politicians are the first to pass the laws, and the first exempt from them”.

I’m sure if prolifers wanted to hold a rally or March, she would be just as accomodating with similar exemptions.

I love satire:

Disguised as righteously indignant rioters.
“We already have the righteous indignation thing down,” said one church elder. “Now, we’ve simply added black balaclavas, hoodies, Guy Fawkes masks, and baseball bats! We found that when we do this, we can meet in large groups without much interference from the local authorities. It’s been a delightful experience.”
