Catholics and Potestants both profess salvation is through grace. (At least those who are honest would agree). How do you get it? and what would you say about it…, Is Grace temporary, transitional, or for keeps once you have it? Please give support for your belief.

grace to you and peace…(isn’t that how paul starts so amny letters?-so grace can’t be permanent, at least not the grace he meant)

anyway, what is grace? i’ve heard a pretty good and simple one- grace is unmerited favour from god
in that sense, it could be temporary, transitional or for keeps.

e.g. we all live by grace, whether we believe it or not, the very breath in our body is from god’s grace-that’s one level
some people are given the grace to know him or have a personal experience of him
some are given great talents or resources
etc., etc., it’s all different kinds of gifts through the same grace of god

i think that grace(this applies equally to the gift of salvation, which is what you are asking about, i think), firstly, is undeserved and unmerited; secondly, is open to all who are willing to recieve it; thirdly, it is possible to reject it through sin and thus loose it(god will not impose it on us, he has given us freedom)
thus, it is not temporary, transitional or for keeps, it’s just there for us to grab (and hold on to) while we have the chance to do it.

i hope this makes some sense, i just thought it out as i posted

hmmm. everyone has their say about the means of justification for salvation, but none have a say about the grace that gives salvation. Interesting. What do protestants believe about grace: before and after baptism?
