I have an question about confession. I have heard the sin affects both the body and soul. If someone goes to confession and is forgiven complely is it still possible for those sins to affect the body in a spirtual (not necessartily a physical or a visable sense)?

Sin has consequence.
So the answer to your question is a possible yes.

For example, if the sin is drug abuse, even the sin has been forgiven after confession, the chemical residues in the body still could bring negative effects.

Or hatred, the person could finally be delivered from his bitterness, goes to confession and be forgiven; however, the past hatred in his heart could have already damaged his health to certain degree. The forgiveness of sins would not automatically cure his physical problems.

yes the effects of sin remain, which is why we do penance, why we make restitution when possible, and why we also work on the virtue that corrects that particular sin. If I kill someone, he is still dead, even after I have been forgiven and absolved. If I have damaged my marriage through my sin, it still remains to work to remedy the damage (if possible).
