Grandparents dilemma

My wife and I are both Catholic, but our son has drifted away from the faith. He is living with someone and has a beautiful 2 year old son. Now, our son and his friend are splitting up. We see our grandson daily, and now I’m so afraid that she will take him out of our lives. Is there anything that we can do to deter this?

Legally, probably not. Grandparents don’t usually have much standing vis-a-vis the parents. I think in Florida we used to have a law that said that grandparents could get the courts to force parents to let the grandparents see their grandchildren on a regular basis. It was ruled unconstitutional.
