Grave or not help please

i have a problem where if i know the rules of the supermarket i work in to not sell products the day before the use by date and my boss said sell what you have left at a cheaper price and it will be gone before miday and i did what she said even thoe the store rules are different did i commit a sin against the work place i work for. AND is it grave. sorry i need help because i think to much and i go through so many positve and negitve thoughts and can not work out if this is grave.

those things i sold did go before midday but also i had other products which i just did not ask her and threw out following the store rules i did it because it wasn’t as much as the stock i sold.

should i confess this or is it not necesary
 
If it bothers you, just confess it.

There is no rule that says only mortal sins can be committed. 👍

I don’t think what you did is a sin at all. People can read an expired date. If they see something on sale they know the reason often is, because it is getting old and being unloaded. If you threw out something expired following the policy of the store you did nothing wrong. If you left something out at cut price following instructions of your boss you did nothing wrong.

If your boss told you to shortchange people that would be a problem, or fix the scales to cheat people that would. If the store policy was to cover up or change expired dates you would have a problem.
 
unable to understand your problem the way you describe the situation. Follow the policies of the store you work for, unless and until they are immoral. There is nothing wrong with selling produce after its stamped date at a reduced price, people know what they are getting and there is no deception.

As a general rule, if you feel that your own actions in any way have been sinful, simply confess the matter, and don’t worry about its level of gravity, in humility allow the priest to advise you.
 
There are 3 requirements for a sin to be mortal.
  1. Grave Matter
  2. Full Knowledge
  3. Deliberate Consent
Seems to me your situation is not grave matter (unless you know the food is poisonous) and it is not even deliberate consent as your boss is telling you to do.

You may want to ask your boss about this though. Say something like, yeah isn’t the store rule not to do this? Do you want me to do it anyways?
