Great Adventure Bible Study Series

We are currently doing a bible study using Jeff Cavins’ “The Great Adventure” series.

A member of our group wants to know if this bible study has been approved by the Church, is under the direction of a priest, and/or has an imprimatur attached to it.

Can anyone refer me to any source that indicates the orthodoxy of this bible study series?

I understand it’s one of the best Catholic Bible studies around. Very interesting and enlightening!!!
 
It’s literally harrowing and harrowingly literary!

While it has its value, and is capable of fostering new insights, I nonetheless find Cavins’ interpretations tainted by the need for dogmatic self-assertion in the face of traditional renderings - especially within the Tanakh. The whole enterprise sort of reminds me of something Jack Miles might have produced had Jack Miles been doped up on Xanax. :eek:

That’s new to me. I have listened to Jeff and Scott Hahn’s Our Father’s Plan audio files from EWTN and I thought they were wonderful. I understand his Great Adventure series is similar. Jeff also has Tim Gray working with him who is absolutely wonderful. These three men have done more to help teach me to understand the Bible than anyone else ever could.

Can you give an example of Jack Miles being doped up on Xanax?
 
I have done the Great Adventure… Adventures in Matthew and now Acts. In a few weeks I will be starting Revelations. I have loved this series very much. I find them all very interesting and informative.
