…If abortion providers in Indiana abide by the law, women in that state who are seeking an abortion will now be told about ultrasound imaging and the ability to hear their baby’s heartbeat. Governor Mitch Daniels has signed into law legislation requiring abortion providers to do just that, changing part of Indiana’s informed consent law. A spokeswoman for the governor says Daniels supports the legislation “because it provides a pregnant woman with information to help her make an informed decision.” Not surprisingly, Planned Parenthood of Indiana claims the governor is exploiting the issue for political purposes. But Indiana Right to Life applauds Daniels’ move. “An ultrasound image and the sound of a beating heart make it clear that an unborn child is not a blob of tissue, but a real child who is growing and developing in the womb,” Mike Fichter tells Associated Press. “Governor Daniels is to be applauded for his leadership on this issue.” Fichter predicts the new law will result in fewer abortions in the Hoosier State because it will help women “better understand the humanity of the unborn child.”

Notice planned parenthood who screams choice sure doesn’t want a woman to make an informed choice:nope:

**Wonderful. **

And speaking to a pro-life group afterwards, Gov. Daniels said abortion opponents "were the most selfless of all advocacy groups."

Awesome! How can anyone argue against informing a patient before they undergo a medical procedure?

I had to have surgery on a broken arm once and the doctor showed me the X-Rays and exactly what he was going to do. If these people claim that a abortion is just like any other medical procedure, why don’t they want to treat it as such?

In my state we tried to get an informed consent law passed and planned parenthood fought it and won:mad: The law would have given a detailed description of the abortion procedure and possible problems and a 24 hour waiting period:ehh: The description would validate the unborn child being ripped aprart and the possibility of problems for the woman as well due to abortion, the death lobbyist will not have it!:banghead:

A young woman I once worked with was living with her boyfriend. She got a big surprise when the pg test turned up positive. She intended on having an abortion. She went for an ultrasound to date the pregnancy. The tech did not know that she was going to have an abortion and showed her the baby on the screen. She did not have the abortion. When she got home that night, her boyfriend, not knowing that she had changed her mind, begged her to “not kill their baby”. They got married & had a beautiful baby boy.

Yup, she changed her mind ON THE SPOT!!! No wonder Planned Barrenhood don’t want women to see these ultrasounds. Cuts into the benjamins. With my second pregancy, I saw my baby on the sono 3 weeks after conception- I was one day late, took the test, and was at the OB one week later. Had a transvaginal sono(much more detail, no holding your bladder for hours!!!) and I saw her little heart beating. Some blob of tissue, huh? Unfortunately, she died several weeks later. When I tell this to the PB people, they are like oh, you must mean 3 months. No, I mean 3 WEEKS. Kinda surprises them.

What a beautiful story.

This is exactly what I would expect would happen…So of course the pro aborts don’t want women to see the sonograms. They know how many would choose to have the baby…
The very fact that they are wanting to withhold information shows that they know this would be a powerful weapon against abortion!!

These new 3D/4D ultrasound machines could be miraculous. I don’t know if this has already been posted here, but it’s very good news.

Pro-Life Group Will Help 650 Pregnancy Centers Get Ultrasound Machines

Colorado Springs, CO (LifeNews.com) – Focus on the Family has announced a campaign to spend $4.2 million on ultrasound machines for pregnancy centers across the country. The goal is to provide centers with the equipment, which has been touted as helping to change the minds of many women considering abortion.

Julie Parton, director of the Pregnancy Resource Ministry, tells the Associated Press that Operation Ultrasound will place such machines in about 150 pregnancy centers this year alone.

http://www.lifenews.com/ultrasound3d5.JPGThe pro-life groups hopes to have as many as 650 machines in centers nationwide by 2010.

“Among women considering abortion, surveys indicate that 57 percent will keep their babies after receiving counseling at a pregnancy resource center,” Focus on the Family said in a statement. “That figure jumps to 79 percent when expectant mothers see an image of their baby on an ultrasound machine.”

Crystal Clinkenbeard, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, told AP that the abortion business makes ultrasound photos available to women considering abortions, but claims most do not want to see them.

“It’s very few – less than a quarter,” she said. “And the ones that do as far as changing their mind? Very, very few.”

But Lisa Vorhees, who supports legalized abortion, told AP that an ultrasound changed her mind about an abortion a few years ago.

“It was one of the biggest, hardest decisions I ever had to make in my life but, yes, the ultrasound was the biggest decider for me,” she said.

As of January 2003, only 350 of the 2,300 pregnancy resource centers offered ultrasound, according to the pro-life group. Since the launch of the program in January 2004, 88 centers in 27 states have received ultrasound machines.

Focus on the Family pays 80 percent of the costs of the machine and the local pregnancy center funds the remaining 20 percent.

“These centers are out there on the front lines dealing with these folks every day, and our desire is to assist them and equip them in any way we can,” Parton concluded.

I think this is wonderful news that they are helping women to make informed decisions about their babies. I do hope that FOTF succeeds in this effort.

Momofone, that was a lovely story. Thank you for sharing.

God bless,
