They probably didn’t have to worry about Herpes, Mononucleosis, Halitosis, etc.–or understood how Colds and Flu were spread back in the First Century

On a similar note–While waiting for Sunday Mass to start at a parish over 100 miles from home, the local K of C color guard was there. A choir member, clad in K of C regalia approached the microphone in the Sanctuary. He maked a short speech about hospitality and the virtue in greeting the “stranger in our midst”. Then everyone is asked to stand, turn, and greet one another.

Now the problem becomes-- Does the K of C get to add their “traditions” to the Mass? I heard a similar speech from the local pastor, and he’s affiliated with the local chapter.

If you mean the choir/ KofC member, he added nothing to the mass. It was before mass.

Lots of excess “fluff” in many Christian services these days; all this greeting stuff should be after mass
