What a wonderful order. To answey your question, though, everything was done right. Even the homily can be in Latin if the Priest is up to that (which is not done often, as the congregation wouldn’t be able to understand ‘-’ It’s VERY, VERY rare -).

That makes sense now. The Franciscans of the Immaculate have an indult to make regular use of the EF as long as they observe the ancient Franciscan customs during the mass. The rest of us are allowed to use the EF on extraordinary occasions only. We are allowed to celebrate the old Gregorian mass as long as we do not use Gregorian chant and several other conditions are met. One of them is that the superior of the house must grant the permission. Getting permission is not difficult. Superiors just want to know who is doing what.
