Grief after the loss of a beloved family pet

I feel guilty asking for prayers for myself, especially when I know there are people on this board contending with much graver issues, but please say a prayer for me and my family. My cat was put down today. It was unexpected and he was very beloved. Montgomery was a very sweet boy, good natured, relaxed and very beautiful.

He was rescued as an abandoned kitten from a crime scene in Boston, and we spent 12 years spoiling him rotten. We would even give him little table scraps of fillet mignon at Christmas dinner if he was good–which he always was!

I don’t have many people in my life and he was very important to me–I’ve never bonded with an animal like this. If you could trouble yourself to say a prayer for me and mine, I’d be much obliged to you. God bless.
 
Been on this boat too and I know how painful that is. Our fur relatives are loved as much as all our loved ones. Praying for you and your family!
 
I’m so sorry you lost you dear friend Montgomery.
I have had many cats and other pets and I know what it’s like to love them and grieve their death.
I am happy to say a special prayer for you to be consoled by Jesus who loves all His Father’s creatures.

Christ the Consoler, you understand that our beloved pets help us to understand God’s love. Please help this person grieving their beloved cat to feel better and trust in the mercy of God.
If it be Your will, help them to open their heart and home to another animal in need when the time is right. In Jesus’ Name I humbly pray. Amen.

Prayer for a Dead Pet

Eternal Father, we bring You @frumacat’s grief over the loss of her beloved
cat Montgomery. Comfort her during this time of sadness. We bring You
our thanks for Montgomery, who lived among us and gave us freely his love.
We commit Montgomery into Your loving hands. Give us eyes to see how
Your love embraces all creatures and every living thing speaks to us of Your
love. We hope for a heaven where the lion lies down with the lamb. And
we pray that some day, we will be reunited with our beloved pets. Amen.

The absolute devotion and love and loyalty on one’s animal companion can inspire us to realise how total our devotion to God should be.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. for her is unchanging and

His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give

Thank you all very much. It’s been a very hard couple of days. I keep on expecting Montgomery to pop up for food when I open the refrigerator or walk by where his dish was. Thank you for your prayers.
